Update on EvanMarie

Early this morning, EvanMarie spiked a fever, and we had to rush her to the ER. The team drew blood and is testing for infection. It’s been a scary and heartbreaking morning. She keeps asking to go home, and we weren’t expecting to be admitted again until Tuesday. It’s looking like we’ll be here for a while.

The timing made it even harder, coming right after such a wonderful Halloween evening spent with friends and family. EvanMarie was a kitty cat, all smiles, laughing, playing, and soaking in that sweet sense of normalcy. To go from that warmth and joy back to the cold, sterile, fluorescent light of the hospital is a jarring reminder of how quickly life can shift. Reminiscent of the life-shocking night of September 25th.

Still, we hold onto hope and the nearness of God, trusting He’s with us here, too. Please continue to pray for quick healing, peace, and strength for our brave little girl, and for grace to face each new day with courage.

You do not know me, but my daughter has been a camper and now a CIT for the past 9 yrs at the Pines. She heard about EvaMarie through her connections there, and shared your story with our family when your baby girl was diagnosed. We immediately enlisted our many circles of prayer warriors for your precious EvaMarie!

I speak up today only to reassure you that the powerful prayers are long and wide, and it is an honor to get to pray for your child and family!

Please accept this note as a piece of my prayerful heart that hurts for you. Please know that we are sending you our strength and hope on wings of a special angel. We ask the LORD to continue to protect you through his mercy and grace as he mends the hearts of all who walk this road with you. And when you fall asleep from emotional and mental exhaustion, I promise We’ve got an army of prayer warriors to finish them for you!

May you continue to be the guiding light in your children’s lives while you Lean on your faith and trust in him completely.

Oh Cana and Ennie.

We are praying for you. We understand so well how quickly things can shift—like a mirage—the illusion of safety into the starkness of empty darkness.

Last night we took our boys out trick or treating. And we marveled at the fact that last year our infant was fighting for every breath in the NICU. But God is still a God of miracles and this year little baby Fisher got to come. Last year we dressed him up like a leaf with a pumpkin on his head in his bed in the NICU at TCH. Apparently the article of baby pictures, with other babies as well, made news all the way in Dallas. This year, we were content and so very thankful to just be with our neighbors and friends as a whole family. Medical equipment or not, we are together.

I am so sorry that God is taking your family through this. I praise God that you know you are not alone. We will be interceding with such a cloud of witness. May God continue to use you all to His greater Glory, and even the miracle of full and complete healing for beautiful EvanMarie.
